FOTC Friday and Recipe Vote

Since I spent so much time on my soy post, today's is gonna be short, sweet, and to the point.

Flight of the Conchords "If that's what you're in to"
[NOT appropriate for the kiddies- but hilarious, as usual]

Hahaha, ok now that's out of the way :] This week's recipe vote!

Breads :]
1. White Amish Bread [perfect for the amish butter I got this week, YUM!]
2. Black Olive Foccacia
3. Green Irish Soda Bread [...ok, it's not really green, but there was a theme going with the colors, lol]

The workouts are starting to get tangible, and I can feel the difference in my body, but I'm gaining weight? Ugh... Anywho, I have a consultation with my chiropractor on Monday to see what I can do about my diet...though I'm not sure I'm doing anything wrong. Frustrating.

Tomorrow's post will be all about Lily's booty...well, diapers anyway ;]

FOTC Friday and Recipe Vote

Still a lot going on here.
Today I drove Eamon to work, then started to drive to Plano to show some flowers to a shop there. Halfway there, I figure I should give her a call, just in case. She says she's interested but today isn't good...so I turn around.
I get to Southlake and try to sell to a few of those fancy shmancy baby boutiques there. The all want those tacky silk flowers with rhinestone centers. Every last one of them. It's so stupid. I felt super discouraged on the way home. However, once I did get here, I found that I sold some flowers this morning on Etsy, so that was great.

Last night something that I have been contemplating over for a long time laid really heavy on my heart. There is a passion that I have that I think needs to be put in to action. I'm afraid that I may be "unqualified" or something else. But I feel so in love with this, that I hope it's one of the desires that the Lord has placed on my heart for a reason.
I started working a little on that today... I sent an email to one of my friends who already does this asking her if she would mind if I started to. I hope she says no. The next step would then be to talk to a wonderful couple to see if they would be interested in helping me out. I really hope it works... But untill I get a definitive answer, I can't really talk about what "it" is. So, stay tuned I guess...

This definately has cheared me up though :]
Flight of the Conchords "Bret, You've Got It Going On"

And here's the recipe's that are up for votes this week!
They're kind or everywhere this week, lol
1. Red Lentil "Garlic Mashed Potatos" [19 grams of protein per serving!]
2. Irish Soda Bread
3. Kidney Bean and Cauliflower Coconut Curry

Remember to vote *here* for your votes to count!

FOTC Friday and Recipe Vote

Ok, so things have been crazy.
My poor husband is dealing with my hormones that are OFF THE CHARTS y'all. I mean crazy. But for some reason, he still comes home every night. Bless that man. Lily has been waking up about 4 hours earlier than she used to, and MAN is it taking its toll on me. Waiting up for Eamon to get home and going to sleep when he does is only about 6 hours before she wakes up, not including the 2x I have to wake up and nurse her. She starts off in her crib, but ends up in our bed by morning. So ya, I'm running on about 4-5 hours of sleep everyday...it's killer.
I've been scowering the interwebz for a new phone since mine hopped in the sink last week [yet another obstacle to overcome in the "communication breakdown" department of marriage!] and for a camera to take pictures for my shop.

Well on to FOTC.
This week, instead of doing something with both of the fellas, I'm gonna stick with Jemaine. While watching a movie the other day, I saw this preview for one of Eamon's favorite children's book turn movie "Dispicable Me"
So, here it is! Can't wait to see it!

And here are your choices for recipes this week!
This weeks theme? Asia
1. Shitake Mushroom Soup
2. Rice with Almonds, Pinenuts, and Honey [VERY good with a super spicey stir fry!]
3. Lentil Wontons

Be sure to vote here by Sunday @ 4!
The recipe with the most votes will be shared at that time.
Now, GET TO VOTING! And have an awesome Friday ;]

Flight of the Conchords Friday

Woot! Its Friday!
Gonna follow some trends that I've been seeing on some other bloggity blog friends of mine while Lily's napping and I'm waiting for my Freecycling to be picked up.

One, of which I'm very found of is
What TV show raised you?
After much...not really...dilliberation, I can say, without a doubt,
Boy Meets World.

I was there when they changed little sisters on me from Her

to HER [who they stuck with]

I was there as Feenie came...and never went anywhere but where our lovely hero's went.

I was there when Shawn's Daddy died and he found his long lost rich [less attractive] brother, Jack.
I was there for Jennifer Love Hewitt's guest appearance on their Halloween episode. [Still sorta freaks me out..not gonna lie.]

I was there when Corry and Topanga got married, almost went to jail, and lost their virginity. [Two parter right there.]
And I was there when the show ended, and Eric found his niece in life. Haha.

Here's to you Corry, Topanga, Shawn [HOT!] big brother Eric, and even the n00bs Angela, Jack, and Rachel. I miss you all very, very much :]

And Minkus. Let's not forget Minkus.

So what t.v. show did you grow up with?

Another is What do you wanna do before you die?
Such a good question. I will post my list...we'll say of ten tomorrow.

Now, here is your highly inappropriate weekly dose of Flight of the Conchords.

Sunday recipes? Here's some from all the new one's we tried this week.
1. Spiral pasta with pesto and cherub tomatoes with Scallops
2. Baked sea bass with lentils
3. Kidney bean and Cauliflower Coconut Curry :]

Enjoy you're weekend and check back Sunday for the recipe!

Consumed By Food

The past few days, really couldn't have been better.
  • I wake up, cook and eat breakfast with Lily and Eamon as he heads out the door to work.
  • Clean up Lily.
  • Pick up the house a little bit while playing with said Lily.
  • Put her down for a nap [today I got to nap WITH her!]
  • Play and clean some more.
  • Make lunch for everyone.
  • Put down Lily for second nap.
  • Mostly play with Lily and try to keep her not cranky.
  • Bathe Lily, or just let her play in the bathtub, I really don't mind :].
  • Put Lily to bed.
  • After about 7:30 I have the rest of the evening to myself!
Somewhere in here I prepare supper for Eamon and I, but the rest of the evening I've been able to read, craft, knit, watch a movie. It's been really nice. Lily of course wakes up every now and then and I nurse her back to sleep, but all in all, I've been diggin this week.

[It seems that two weeks ago was a really rough week, last week was a week full of encouragement from every woman, man and child that I know, and this week was just SO blessed and calm and...dare I say it, easy?]

With this new found [and hopefully long lasting!] organization I have stumbled upon, I have found myself in a deep, passionate, unadulterated love affair with food. [The best part is, Eamon's in on it too, mwahahaha!]
I'm listening to In Defense of Food which is really a response to An Omnivore's Delhima. He decided after writing that, people needed to know what TO eat! And I'm reading Real Food; What to Eat and Why by Nina Planck. I can literally feel my stomach get fuller as she talks about the raw milk butter on whole grain bread. Both teach you to stay away from the gimics; low fat, fat free, low carb, carb free, Extra Vitamin blah blah blah, and eat REAL FOOD! Just food people!

This week we did not eat out once, for 21 meals. We did not eat anything premade, and we did not eat anything that wasn't thrown together by the same fingers that are typing now. Neither of us have felt this good in months!

[So I totally, unknowingly just lied then! I had Eamon get me some Chips A'hoy brand cookies because...well lets just say Lily eating solids has taken "that" toll on my body"]

[Another side note: 9 months of being fat, plus labor and delivery are well worth the nearly year and a half of no periods...just sayin.]

For example, right now I am roasting [more like "sun drying" in the oven] grape tomatoes for pizza tonight. Homemade crust [shared here last week], mozzerella, feta, "sundried" tomatoes, and artichokes. Does it get better than that on a Saturday night????
In the morning I have Muesli planned with a fat pat of real butter and a spoonful of honey, after being soaked overnight in milk. HEAVEN.
All of that just to give us enough energy for tomorrow! We recieved our Food Stamps [don't hate!] and since it took them so long, we have accumulated three months worth...stoked doesn't even begin to describe the anticipation Eamon and I have had all week!

Well if no one votes for a recipe tomorrow, I'll pick one at random, but in case you would still like a say; here are this week's options for recipes :]
1. My Hummus recipe [like I said, waaaay better than Saba brand]
2. my Chewy chocolate chip recipe
3. My Spank-a-pita [formally Spanikopita] recipe

LOVE LOVE!

Flight of the Conchords Friday

 First and foremost,
one of the two [overdue!] friends I have been waiting on to have her baby [both surprises!] had her TEN POUND, NINE OUNCE baby boy this morning at home! could not be more excited! I woke up in little intervals all night and this morning to keep praying for her, and to find out she did SO great is just so awesome! Congrats Scott and Kate!
[Stephanie, you're next!]

Ok, so I've decided to add a new feature on Fridays. Flight of the Conchords Friday's. Flight of the Conchords are a hilarious comedy troupe from New Zealand that have a show on HBO. We rented it on Netflix and have seen all of season one and can't wait for season one to come out. SO every friday, I'll try to post something related to them, until I run out of material!

Last on the agenda this morning, recipes :]
I want to know what you wanna see on the blog this Sunday. Here are the three contenders for this week:
1. My Hummus recipe [waaaay better than that Saba crap]
2. my Chewy chocolate chip recipe
3. My Spank-a-pita [formally Spanikopita] recipe

leave me a note in the comment section and see if your recipe wins!
Voting open til Sunday morning, and the losers will get a second chance in weeks to come!

and now the always hilarious, mildly inappropriate, oddly attractive
Bret and Jemaine
